Pennsylvania State Addendum

Crime Victims Leave

Employees may take unpaid time off from work to comply with a subpoena or other court order to serve as a witness in a criminal proceeding, or to attend a criminal proceeding. An employee is eligible for time off if he/she is:

  • Is the victim of the crime at issue in the proceedings;
  • Is related to the victim within the third degree of consanguinity or affinity;
  • Is in a common law relationship with the victim; or
  • Residing in the same household with the victim

An employee who is the alleged offender is not eligible for time off.

Pregnancy Non-Discrimination and Accommodations

In accordance with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, the Company will treat disabilities caused or contributed to by pregnancy , miscarriage, abortion, childbirth or recovery as temporary disabilities for job-related purposes.

Volunteer Emergency Responder Leave

Employees may be eligible for time off work to serve as a volunteer firefighter, emergency medical service attendant, reserve law enforcement officer, or part time law enforcement officer. Employees should contact his/her supervisor as soon as he/she is aware that he/she will be late to work , or unable to report to work due to the emergency dispatch.Upon request, employees must provide his/her supervisor with a statement from the appropriate department/organization documenting that the employee was responding to an emergency call. Such time off wil be unpaid for nonexempt employees. Exempt employees will be paid in accordance with federal and state wage and hour laws.

Virginia State Addendum

Crime Victims Leave

Employees may take unpaid time off from work to be present at all criminal proceedings involving a crime against the victim at which has the right or opportunity to appear. An employee is eligible for time off if:

  • The employee has suffered physical,psychological or economic harm has a direct result of the commission of a felony, assault and battery, maiming or driving while intoxicated;
  • The employee has suffered physical, psychological or economic harm as a direct result of the commission of stalking, sexual battery, or attempted sexual battery;
  • the employee is the spouse or child of the victim;
  • The victim is a minor and the employee is the victim’s parent or legal guardian; or
  • The victim is physically or mentally incapacitated or was a homicide victim and the employee is the victim’s spouse, sibling, or legal guardian.

Election Duty Leave


Employees who serve as election officials will be granted unpaid leave in order to perform the duties of the position to which they have been appointed,. An employee must provide reasonable advance notice of the dates of the required service. If an Employee serves as an election official for four or more hours , including travel time, he or she will not be required to start any shift that begins on or after 5pm on the day of the service or begins before 3am on the day following election official service.

Pregnancy Non-Discrimination and Accommodations

In accordance with the Virginia state law, the company will treat women affected by pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions must be treated the same as persons who are not pregnant but are similar in their abilities and inabilities. Accordingly, the company will treat employees disabled by pregnancy the same as they treat other temporarily disabled employees for leave of absence purposes.
